We’re hosting a series of exclusive software and services workshops at embedded world 2024 in Nuremberg, Germany, from April 9th to 11th.

Each session will take around an hour, during which you will hear from some of the brightest minds in the industry. Sessions are available to book now, but you’ll have to be quick, spaces are strictly limited.

A modular prototyping approach for embedded vision projects

This seminar is designed to provide technical insights and practical examples to streamline and simplify your embedded vision development process, from prototyping to product.

  • Overview: Understand the principles, benefits and planning steps of a modular prototyping approach in embedded vision projects.
  • Offering: Learn about Avnet Silica's silicon, module and ecosystem partners and the Avnet Silica Software&Services offering to accelerate prototyping and development.
  • Example: Follow us through a real-world embedded vision prototyping example and engage with us to explore our ecosystem and the freedom it offers. The example will be based on an NXP i.MX8MPlus processor running a vanilla Linux Kernel with Yocto LTS.
  • Maintenance: Learn how using mainline GNU/Linux is helping you with maintaining a high level of security and long-term support for your product and get an exclusive insight into Avnet Silica's mainline kernel contributions directly from the maintainers.
  • Transitioning to Production: Discuss considerations and strategies for moving from prototyping to production seamlessly and with a maximum of re-use.
  • Software Ecosystem: Learn how Avnet Silica's software ecosystem of Linux mainline enabled drivers, Windows drivers along with open-source tools and enablement helps you increase development productivity and minimize project total-cost-of-ownership.
  • Meet the experts: Join us before or after the seminar for a cup of coffee and a snack at our booth and talk to our presenters, partners, and the Avnet Silica Software&Services EMEA team.

Designing an automotive-grade Battery Management System in functional safety context based on NXP's S32K Automotive Controller Platform

In this seminar, we will introduce a safety-driven automotive development process, using the example of designing a Battery Management System (BMS) based on NXP's S32K Automotiver Controller platform and ecosystem.

  • Introduction into BMS architectures and concepts, typical BMS safety requirements and automotive and non-automotive BMS usecases, we will then dive into the features and ecosystem of NXP's S32K automotive controller platform and show how NXP and Avnet Silica can support the selection and evaluation of fitting platforms. We will then take a look at automotive development and safety requirements and standards (SPICE, ISO26262, ...) and illustrate how Codelab and Avnet Silica can help with tailor-made consulting and support packages from a single-source.
  • Using the BMS example, we will apply these concepts in a full walkthrough on how to design a BMS based on comprehensive offering of S32K wiithy complementing solutions such as battery cell controllers, battery sensors gateway solutions – helping you to understand the challenges, pitfalls und shortcuts you should or should not take.
  • We will explore options to speed up your development flow, how to profit from our support model and how to benefit from the extensive hardware, software, and processual expertise Avnet Silica and Codelab bring to the table.

We are looking forward to meeting you in this deep-dive session (while staying completely dry!) – and to discuss your individual requirements face-to-face with our Codelab and Avnet Silica Software&Services team over coffee and snacks after the session.

Cybersecurity in the context of the Cyber Resilience Act

While the final agreement of the European Union's cyber resilience act is currently still on its journey through the EU legislative process to receive formal approval by European Parliament and the Council, it is already causing confusion and calls-to-action among engineering and management across the industries.

This seminar intends to shed some light on this important legislation. After an overview about the current status, a content overview and important timelines, the following questions are answered:

  • Targets: Who is affected when and how? What are the resulting obligations and potential liabilities?
  • Overview: Regulations, Standards and Methodologies involved.
  • Onboarding: Dividing and conquering the jungle of tasks, goals, priorities.
  • Practical Guidance: Proposals for best practices and a possible roadmap to be prepared.
  • Side-effects: Important implications to consider, e.g. on open source and ecosystem choices.
  • Ecosystems: Building and engaging with supporting ecosystems and partners.

Meet the experts: Join us before or after the seminar for a cup of coffee and a snack at our booth and talk to our presenters, partners, and the Avnet Silica Software&Services EMEA team.

Choosing the optimal Embedded Camera Solution for your Project

Selecting the right camera solution for your embedded project can be a challenging process due to the multitude of fields of expertise required, such as semiconductor physics, light characteristics and spectrums, optics, material science, production planning, software, and electronics design. This seminar aims at streamlining this process and demonstrating how Avnet Silica can assist you in it. Starting with an overview of Avnet Silica's Image Sensor and Embedded Camera module portfolio, we will guide you through the decision, prototyping and planning process of selecting the right solution.

Avnet Silica's Software&Services Team will navigate you through the basics of physics and optics and show the calculation steps to select the optimal image sensor and fitting optics, choosing a fitting sensor interface and guide you through the software ecosystems involved with embedded camera solutions.

Together with our partner Allied Vision, we will then look into the decision making process of make vs. buy from a maintenance and total-cost-of-ownership perspective and look into advanced requirements such as cooling, housing, sensor tuning and calibration, sensor alignment and lens alignment.

After the seminar join us for a cup of coffee and a snack at our booth and talk to our presenters, Allied Vision, and the Avnet Silica Software&Services EMEA team.
