Navigating Pitfalls, Optimizing Solutions

The risk of ending up with devices requiring costly rework is a tangible concern for our customers. Avnet Silica steps in as a strategic partner, helping organizations decipher the optimal solution tailored to their unique use cases. While many clients have experience with security and the development stage, scaling these measures poses a distinctive challenge. Problems often manifest when devices are already in the field, making retroactive upgrades to production and programming a formidable task.

Scalability: Our Core Strength

Avnet Silica excels in providing scalable solutions, bridging the divide between the broad range of tools offered by suppliers and our customers’ need for a scalable security solution. Our strength lies in addressing challenges before they materialize, ensuring that security scales seamlessly with growing demands. As an aggregator, we possess unparalleled expertise in all supplier solutions, positioning us uniquely to deliver the most effective customer solutions.

Welcome to a realm where security isn't just a measure; it's a mindset.

LOGISTIC CENTRE (WAREHOUSE)
LOGISTIC CENTRE (WAREHOUSE)

Avnet Logistics are specialists in handling electronic components, providing ESD protection and operating quality-management systems based on ISO 9001EN61340-5-1 & 2, ISO 14001 and J-STD020 & 033.

The Logistic Center in Poing is certified according to EN9120 and demonstrates its conformance to aviation, space and defence industry standards. EN9120 specifies additional management system requirements towards quality, safety and reliability within the supply chain of the Aerospace industry. This includes the chain of custody, traceability, stock control and availability of records.

The Autostore
The Autostore

The Autostore is a unique worldwide-patented warehouse system proven to be the ideal small-goods handler. With standardised boxes stacked in a cube, it is the most space-efficient goods-to-man system on the market. Besides that, there are 31.000 storage locations in the pallet area. The warehouse also features a sequencer, whose task is to collect all the individual items of orders and shipments, sort, store, save and perform together. The sequencer's performance is far above the current industry standard: twelve independent shuttles in three equally independent lanes allow 1200 called games per lane. Sufficient for each job density and a significant relief for picking.

Product Modification Center
Product Modification Center

With a capacity to program over 40 million units and to tape and reel 45 million units, Avnet Logistics in Poing (Germany) currently operates the largest product modification center in Europe. The Avnet Logistics facility is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001, DIN EN IEC 61340-5-1 & 2 and ISO 14001 meets high quality standards of the automotive, naval, aviation, aerospace, telecommunications, military and medical equipment industries.

When and where can we support with device management and provisioning?

Provisioning at Avnet Silica (Logistic Centre)

Avnet Silica has its very own warehouse and logistic centre, located in Poing, Munich. The Avnet Logistics facility is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001, DIN EN IEC 61340-5-1 & 2 and ISO 14001 and meets high-quality standards of the automotive, naval, aviation, aerospace, telecommunications, military and medical equipment industries.

Handling device management and provisioning within our facility gives you full control of what and how the provisioning is done, offers great security options and gives you a one-stop-shop for all of your needs.

Pros Cons
✔ Full control of what and how the provisioning is completed ✔ Locks the device in transportation

Requires customisation content to be ready when shipping components

✔ Locks the device, then EMS' only need to load FW ✔ One-stop-shop for components and services
✔ Avnet Silica has its own personalisation machine in our Poing (Germany) warehouse ✔ We can handle Firmware programming
✔ We can handle key and certification injection ✔ Connect to any PKI vendor (EL2GO, KeyFactor, Wisekey, Digicert...)
✔ Connected to SFI (STMicroelectronics) and DLM Server (Renesas) ✔ Price per piece model

Provisioning at EMS/OEM Production Line

Handling device management and provisioning on the testing and production line also offers more flexibility when it comes to supply chain but electronics manufacturing services must agree to 3rd party use of their machines.

Avnet Silica can provide customers with an HSM to get connected to their testing/production line and get the right certificates/keys for the right products.

✔ Connected to SFI (ST) and DLM Server (Renesas) ✔ License business model

Provisioning in the Field

Handling device management and provisioning in the field gives you more flexibility from both a personalisation and supply chain perspective but requires strong connectivity availability at all times and means products leave manufacturing without credentials.

Services from KeyFactor, WISeKey and NXP (EdgeLock2GO) can all be offered when you choose to handle device management and provisioning in the field.
