Conflict Minerals and Responsible Sourcing

Avnet, Inc., including its subsidiaries (collectively "Avnet"), is committed to source minerals responsibly and avoid sourcing minerals that contribute to armed conflict or human rights abuses in conflict affected and high-risk areas (CAHRAs), including the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or adjoining countries. Avnet’s approach is to promote the traceability and transparency of supply chains and move towards a conflict-free global supply chain.

Avnet supports the aims of the Responsible Business Alliance’s Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) to identify, reduce and eventually eliminate the use of conflict minerals that finance or benefit conflict or human rights violations, and the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP) to validate responsible sources. "Conflict minerals" include tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold, which are used in many electronic components and computer products.

Avnet continues to track emerging laws and industry best practices concerning responsible sourcing of minerals and reporting requirements.

Avnet’s responsible sourcing approach incorporates human rights and environmental risk assessments on our supply chain. More information available on our responsible sourcing page and in Avnet’s Declaration of Principles for Human Rights.

Policy

Below is a link to Avnet’s Responsible Minerals Sourcing Policy Statement, which includes Avnet’s expectations that its suppliers only source minerals from responsible sources, and encourages its suppliers to adopt similar policies, due diligence frameworks, and management systems with respect to responsible minerals sourcing to drive those efforts throughout their supply chain.

Annual Form SD and Conflict Minerals Report

Avnet is required to annually file a Form SD, which includes the Conflict Minerals Report, with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) pursuant to Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The Form SD describes in detail the structure of Avnet’s annual conflict minerals campaign and the results of such campaign.

Below is a link to Avnet’s most recently filed Form SD.

Annual RCOI and Due Diligence Campaign

Avnet annually conducts a reasonable country of origin inquiry (RCOI) and due diligence that aligns with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas (OECD Framework). For more information on the annual campaign, please see Avnet’s annual Form SD.

Avnet does not purchase minerals directly from mines, smelters or refiners and is multiple steps away from such suppliers. Therefore, as a downstream consumer of conflict minerals, Avnet expects its suppliers to provide proper verification of the country of origin and source of the conflict minerals used in the products they supply to Avnet, utilizing the most current Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) developed by RMI.

Based on Avnet’s annual campaign and supplier CMRTs collected (including both in-scope and out-of-scope suppliers), Avnet creates its aggregated CMRT, which is available in a link below. Avnet believes that its customers should be fully informed about the products they purchase.

Aggregated CMRTs for certain Avnet business units may be available upon request. Please email avnet-requests@assentcompliance.com to request aggregated CMRTs or to request additional information regarding Avnet's annual campaign.
