New Product Introduction

Renesas RA4E2 MCU Group

RA4E2 - Entry-Line 100MHz Arm® Cortex®-M33 General Purpose Microcontroller

Renesas' RA4E2 MCU in LQFP package with 64 pins

The RA4E2 group is the most optimized product in the RA4 series. It is based on the 100 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 core and provides smaller package, lower pin counts options, and more a optimized feature-set than the existing RA4E1 but stay at same performance range with several new interfaces such as I3C, CAN FD and HDMI CEC not available on previous RA4 devices.

The RA4E2 can be a first entry point to the RA family due to its usability, price range, and scalability to the other mainstream line products. With the enhanced entry-line product, customers can realize high performance applications even under severe size and cost restrictions. In addition, Renesas FSP provides customers an easy-to-use development environment. Customer can reduce the development resource/time by using FSP’s small memory footprint HAL drivers and peripheral drivers with software scalability with the rest of the RA family.

Features & benefits

Expand RA4 portfolio with smaller, more optimized offerings

  • Small BGA (4x4mm 36-pin, 5x5mm 64-pin) and 32-pin QFN package options
  • 128KB code flash memory/40KB SRAM, suitable for simple system design
  • Increased number of GPIOs (by reduced power supply pins and improved multiplexing) and embedding external components such as high-speed on-chip oscillator, data flash, temperature sensor, and wide set of peripherals to realize customers’ design flexibility and size and cost optimizations

High performance and rich peripherals in an entry-line MCU

  • 100 MHz Arm® Cortex®-M33 core based on the Armv8-M architecture, provides high computing performance and support for the DSP instructions which are not available in CM0+ and CM23
  • Includes the main features of the RA mainstream-line and adds support for CAN FD, I3C and HDMI CEC interfaces for faster communications

Applications

  • Medical sensors (heart rate, blood pressure)
  • Industrial sensors (flow, humidity, temperature, etc.)
  • Wearable sensors (heat rate, step)
  • Home appliance
  • Entertainment systems
  • Sensor controller in sports / Smart watches
  • Gaming, Headset control
  • High performance mouse and other peripherals
