Technological development to support the effective use of energy and carbon-free society

As countries around the world aim to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy, such as solar power, wind power, hydropower, and biomass, is a crucial challenge for the sustained development of our society. Innovative TDK power electronics technology is being integrated into all phases of creating, storing, sending, converting, using, and sharing electricity.

Energy storage technology to supply electricity that is surplus in times of periods of high demand, such as the cutting or shifting of peak electricity demand, is vital for the diffusion of renewable energy and solution of the worldwide problem of energy demand. TDK’s research and development are progressing on large-capacity rechargeable batteries, such as lithium-ion batteries, as well as various energy storage systems using flywheels, superconductivity, and others supporting energy technologies.

In response to the growing interest in a decarbonized society worldwide, the diffusion of renewable energy in homes is progressing, including the use of solar power generators. As a result, innovative green technology such as power storage systems are attracting attention as they enable the effective use of energy.
