EU Power legislations
There are several agencies publishing efficiency guidelines and regulations which are similar. However, only the EcoDesign Directive, published by the European Commission, is compulsory. The others have the same intention; however, they are voluntary and have a different purpose for power supply manufacturers as it can be used as a differentiator.

EU Supply Chain Due Diligence legislations
Companies are increasingly required to implement robust supply chain due diligence processes to identify, prevent, and mitigate risks related to human rights and environmental impacts, in line with existing regulations. Following requirements apply to Avnet:
German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act
The German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, known in German as Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz (LkSG), addresses the responsibility of German companies to respect human rights in global supply chains. The Act obligates companies to implement defined due diligence obligations to their own business and the actions of direct and indirect suppliers.
Norwegian Transparency Act
The Norwegian Transparency Act has similar duties as the German Act. It requires large companies selling products and services in Norway to carry out human rights’ due diligence in line with the OECD Guidelines.
Swiss Supply Chain Act
The Swiss Supply Chain Act, officially the Ordinance on Due Diligence and Transparency regarding Minerals and Metals from Conflict Areas and Child Labour, mandates that Swiss companies conduct due diligence to prevent human rights violations and environmental pollution within their supply chains.

EU Battery Regulation
Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 concerning Batteries and Waste Batteries is a comprehensive EU legal framework with EEA relevance that aims to ensure the sustainability and safety of batteries throughout their entire life cycle. The regulation applies to all types of batteries supplied and/or used within the EU, covering the entire battery value chain from raw materials extraction to disposal.
It sets out rules for the placing on the market, labelling, performance, and end-of-life management of batteries, aiming to reduce environmental and social impacts, boost the circular economy of batteries, enhance safety and performance, and to support the green transition and strategic autonomy of the EU.
Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism
The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is one of EU’s tools to address carbon leakage and encourage a cleaner industry production on non-EU countries. This regulation puts a fair price on the carbon emitted during the production of carbon intensive goods that are entering the EU.
EU Deforestation Regulation
The European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) entered into force on 29 June 2023 and aims to reduce EU’s impact on global deforestation and forest degradation. The objective of this new rule is to avoid that certain commodities such as cattle, wood, cocoa, soy, palm oil, coffee, rubber and some of their derived, that are bought, used and consumed in Europe contribute to deforestation in the EU and globally.
EU POP Regulation
Recast Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP), is a European Union legislation with EEA relevance, regulating the prohibition, phasing out and restriction of the manufacturing, placing on the market and use of substances subject to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants and the Protocol to the 1979 Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air, while aiming at protection of human health and the environment from POPs.
Packaging and Packaging Waste
Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on Packaging and Packaging Waste (PPWR) is a comprehensive EU legal framework with EEA relevance that aims to ensure the circularity, sustainability and safety of packaging throughout their entire life cycle, and which is set out to repeal Directive 94/62/EC (PPWD). The regulation applies to all types of packaging placed on the EU market, whether for consumer, commercial, or industrial use. It sets out rules for the placing on the market, design, labelling, reuse, recyclability, and end-of-life management of packaging, with the aim to ensure that packaging is safe, sustainable, and circular, while minimizing its environmental impact and promoting the efficient use of resources throughout the EU.
