KYOCERA AVX announces hermaphroditic WTW & WTB connector

KYOCERA AVX is expanding its product offering with the 9288-000 series of Hermaphroditic connectors. This two-piece wire-to-wire and wire-to-board solution utilizes our proven Poke-Home technology for easy wire installation in the field. Wire-to-wire termination is performed using two identical parts mating with each other, resulting in only one part number on the bill of materials. Wire-to-board connection is accomplished with the same part as with wire-to-wire but mating to an SMT version soldered to the PCB.

The 9288-000 series features plastic latches for good mechanical retention. Available from 2 to 4 positions with a wire gauge range of 16 to 18 AWG, solid or stranded wires, on a 5mm pitch. There are two housing color options (orange or white) and plating is tin over nickel.

  • Single part number required on the BOM for wire‑to‑wire applications
  • Simple strip‑and‑poke wire insertion with twist‑and‑pull wire extraction
  • Easy installation with integrated mating lock feature
  • Operating temperature range: −40°C to +130°C
  • Storage temperature range: −40°C to +60°C
  • Voltage rating: 600 VAC (RMS) or DC equivalent
  • Current rating:
    • 7A per contact for 16AWG
    • 6A per contact for 18AWG
  • Durability:
    • Wire replacement: up to 3 cycles
    • Connector mating/unmating: up to 20 cycles
  • UL approved
