Bourns announces 1202-P series AC Surge Protective Device (SPD) product extension

Bourns is pleased to announce the extension of the 1202 series hardwired AC Surge Protective Devices (H-SPDs/T-SPDs). This series is a Type 1 hardwired SPD designed for AC infrastructure applications.

Now with enhanced thermally protected MOV technology, the 1202-P series provides a higher Nominal Discharge Current (I n ) of 20kA and Maximum Discharge Current (Imax) of 50 kA to meet broader and stricter protection requirements.

The built-in thermal protection feature is designed to safely open in the event of overheating caused by abnormal overvoltage or Temporary Overvoltage (TOV) conditions, thereby interrupting abnormal current within rated limits. LED indicators provide visual indication when the surge protector encounters any situation that requires the internal safety fuse to activate.

The 1202-P series is IP 66/NEMA 4x rated and can be used indoors or outdoors. As a Type 1 SPD, this series requires no external line fusing or circuit breaker and can be placed on the line side of the main service disconnect.
