USB Type-C connectors
TE Connectivity’s (TE) USB Type-C connectors are designed to an industry standard that provides a sleek, slim design small enough for handheld devices and small/home appliances, and robust enough for industrial applications. The USB Type-C connector features a reversible mating interface; the receptacle is designed to accept a plug in any direction, enabling easy, reliable mating.
External connectivity: input/output connectors
TE’s high speed pluggable Input/Output (I/O) connector and cage portfolio meets the needs of the enterprise, telecom, access, and cloud-scale connectivity markets. This family of industry standardised interfaces provides the industry a method of connecting interoperable fiber optic modules and cables along with copper cables for a multitude of applications such as Ethernet, InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, SAS, etc. The family includes I/O connectors including SFP, SFP-DD, QSFP, QSFP-DD, OSFP, MiniSAS-HD, and CDFP. Versions of these products support industry data rates from 1Gbps all the way up to 800Gbps with even higher data rates in development. TE not only meets the industry defined requirements, but also expands product features to meet unique customer demands such as ganged and stacked connectors for higher density, light pipes to serve as visual performance indicators, and critically important, optimised thermal performance solutions that enable customers to design for operation in the most demanding environments and with the highest power dissipating client and coherent optical modules.
External connectivity: high speed copper cables
For the above I/O connector portfolio TE provides a comprehensive set of copper cable assemblies, providing both passive cables as well as active cables for extended reach applications. These cables support the same SFP, SFP-DD, QSFP, QSFP-DD, OSFP, MiniSAS-HD, and CDFP form factors as mentioned above and the same 1Gbps to 800Gbps data rates. TE leverages its internal TE manufactured bulk cable to provide solutions that are among the industry leaders in terms of electrical and environmental performance. Characteristics such as flexibility are optimised to meet evolving industry challenges.
Silver internal cabled interconnect solution
TE Connectivity (TE) has developed a portfolio of sliver internal cabled and card edge interconnects, including versions for SFF-TA-1002 that is one of the most flexible and highest performing solutions in the market. Sliver products can be used across many applications, data rates and protocols including PCI Express, SAS and Ethernet.
Internal connectivity: backplane and board to board products
TE’s STRADA Whisper backplane and board to board interconnect system is a high performance, high density interconnect system initially offered at 25Gbps and continuously upgraded to the current 112Gbps version ensuring backward compatibility across the industry over multiple technology generations. STRADA Whisper is available in multiple configurations including coplanar, mezzanine and backplane as well as cabled backplane headers and cabled daughter card receptacles so they can be used with TE’s sliver internal cabled product.
Internal connectivity: socket products
TE provides a broad range of socket technologies and products including DDR sockets and high-performance server sockets enabling the industry to continue to meet higher performance electrical and mechanical challenges. Supporting higher performance levels for both signal integrity and power integrity are critical in the world of socketing and TE has products that meet these objectives. TE has expanded our socketing solutions to now also support next generation networking switch sockets. TE offers a socket for Broadcom’s TH4 25Tbps that is based on 50Gbps serdes technology.

The focus on this workshop has been on TE Connectivity high speed products, but of course that is not all TE provides in today’s enterprise, telecom, access, and cloud-scale connectivity markets and equipment.
