Panasonic has introduced two new DC-link capacitors for power inverter and switching power supply applications. Featuring Panasonic's unique patterned metallization technology, the EZPE and EZPQ series capacitors are designed to deliver long term reliability as well as fail-safe functionality in the most demanding use cases. The patterned metallization behaves as a fuse function, disabling a segment of metallised sheet, effectively preventing the capacitor from failing in short mode.
The combination of Zinc and Aluminium, as opposed to an Aluminium-only construction (the market standard), increases resistance to humidity. Additionally, the epoxy resin used for the casing is manufactured in-house and is cast in a vacuum process enabling an even thickness and an absence of bubbles within the epoxy housing, also increasing humidity resistance.
