The Cell Management Unit (CMU) is part of the Battery Management System of a vehicle. A CMU measures voltage, current, and temperature in each cell of a battery pack to ensure safe operation. It also balances cells and protects the weakest cells against overload and run-down. The CMU sends the data to the Battery Management Unit.
