This design is based on a Medical MEMS Micro Pump solution from Microchip and it's used in precision-controlled drug delivery devices. MEMS piezoelectric micro pumps offer the benefits of being small, lightweight, low power, low cost and accurate. Micro pumps are now being used for applications such as transdermal insulin delivery, antithrombogenic blood transportation, injection of glucose for diabetes patients, administration of neurotransmitters to neurons and for chemical/biological sensing.
