Solutions for power-to-X
Smart hydrogen solutions along the entire value chain
Power-to-X enables the targeted transformation of energy-intensive sectors – from electrolysis to fuel cells. Surplus electricity from renewable energies is converted into other forms of energy.
With our solutions and products, we ensure that processes are intelligently networked. Discover suitable applications as well as practical examples for a sustainable energy future with green hydrogen.
How does power-to-x work?
Power-to-X is a key technology for the sustainable energy transition. Surplus electrical energy from renewable sources, such as wind or solar power, is converted into other usable forms of energy. This is where electrolysis is used, a process in which water is split into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen produced can be used directly or further processed into other fuels such as methane or methanol. Renewable energy is not only storable, but can also be used across sectors in various areas of daily life, such as heavy goods vehicles or industry.
What does the X in power-to-X stand for?
The “X” in power-to-X stands for the different forms into which the electrical energy can be converted. This includes, for example, conversion into heat (power-to-heat), chemical raw materials (power-to-chemicals), or synthetic fuels (power-to-fuel). Sectors that are particularly difficult to electrify can thus be included in a sustainable energy transition.
What is green hydrogen?
It is hydrogen that is produced emission-free by electrolysis using electricity from renewable sources. In the power-to-X sector, green hydrogen is making a significant contribution to the decarbonization of sectors that were previously more dependent on fossil fuels.
