Harwin RFI shield chips and cans
Harwin announces RFI shield chips and cans
RFI or EMI shield cans are the most popular way of providing protection against the effects of RFI and EMI. They create a Faraday cage around the sensitive or emitting circuits, preventing interference disrupting the device. The disadvantages of this method are:
- Cans are fixed into place using expensive hand-soldering
- They cannot be easily or safely removed for maintenance or repair-leading to the risk of PCB damage
- Two-piece cans (for later access) are expensive products
Features
- Midi size (8.8mm long, 3.4mm high), from 0.4mm to 0.6mm shield thickness. Tin finish on contact area and termination
- Packaged in tape and reel for automated placement.
- Can be used to hold two 0.20mm or 0.30mm thick shield cans, so they can be PCB mounted next to each other
Applications
- Wi-Fi modules
- Smart fridges
- Bluetooth devices
- Smartphones
- Telecoms hubs
