SMD Single-layer Ceramic Capacitors

Ceramic disc capacitors are made by coating silver on both sides of the ceramic disc. The ceramic disc acts as the dielectric and silver coating on both sides of the disc acts as electrodes and provides low capacitances. The surface mount versions can be mounted directly on the surface of the PCB without the need of extended contacts.
