Hirose DF40 series

DF40 series, 0.4 mm pitch, 1.5mm - 4mm height, board-to-board and FPC-to-board connector.

HIROSE Electric Co. Ltd, a world-class manufacturer of connectors, has introduced the DF40 series Board-to-Board / FPC-to-Board connectors ideal for small portable devices. 

The DF40 series supports 20 Gbps high-speed transmission and meets USB4.Gen.2 standards. The minimal depth of just 3.38 mm redefines connector depth and reduces the mounting area to save space on the board and optimize the design. Although compact in size, a vacuum pick-and-place area is available for automatic placement. 

For flexibility, a wide range of height variations are available in *1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, 2.5 mm, 3.0 mm, 3.5 mm, and 4.0 mm. (* Only height = 1.5 mm type is compatible with Type-C signal transmission) 

The contact's design contributes to the effective mating length of 0.45 mm, providing high contact reliability. Furthermore, a clear tactile click can be felt when mating to confirm the correct engagement.  

Guide ribs are incorporated into the housing body to allow a wide self-alignment range of ± 0.33 in the X and Y directions for design flexibility and a smoother mating operation. The ribs are also reinforced to absorb shock and minimize stress impact. 

New versions have been introduced in addition to the standard DF40 series. The DF40T/DF40GT/DF40F series offers heat-resistant and/or floating versions for automotive applications. DF40GL is a shielded version. This versatility allows for tailored solutions to meet various application requirements. 

Suitable applications are digital cameras, home appliances, portable audio, audio devices, gaming devices, small industrial devices and other portable consumer devices.
