Hirose BM24 Series

BM24 series FPC-to-Board connectors

Hirose has introduced the BM24 series of connectors to provide a connectivity solution for miniature applications needing (10 Gbps) high-speed signal transmission that supports USB 3.1 gen.2

The BM24 range of connectors consists of header and receptacles to allow a flat printed circuit (FPC) to board connection.

The parallel stack height is low-profile at only 0.8mm high in mated condition.

The connector features a hybrid design to include signal contacts rated at 0.25A (Amps) and power contacts rated at 5A. This reduces the requirement for separate power and signal connectors which saves costs and space on the board.

Hirose BM24 Series, 0.35mm Pitch, FPC-to-Board Connectors, Hybrid (Power/Signal), up to 5 Amps Avnet Abacus

The pin assignment and the impedance characteristic of 85+/-9 Ω support USB 3.1 Type-C gen.2 (10 Gbps) high-speed signal transmission.

Although the dimensions are compact, performance is not compromised, and the parts are able to offer highly reliable mechanical connection. This is due to the provision of unique two-point contacts and a long effective mating length of 0.2mm for the power contact or 0.23mm for the signal contact

Guide ribs are incorporated into the housing body, providing for a wide self-alignment range of 0.3mm in the
XY direction and permitting smoother mating operation. In addition, a tactile click is generated upon mating completion, preventing incomplete mating and enhancing operability.
