NXP expands its 5 V PMIC portfolio with the introduction of new TS suffix part numbers (MC3xPF8x50xxTS) as part of the new generation of 5 V PMICs.
These generation versions are drop-in compatible with existing PF81/PF82 devices and offer enhanced performance for long life and supply resilient designs.

They provide a durable and flexible foundation for future generation architectures requiring expanded peripherals and increased processing power.

Two proven variants are offered as before:

  • PF81 – Performance and flexibility for consumer and industrial
    • Full power management and digital control
    • Ideal for systems not requiring functional safety certification
  • • PF82 – Safety for automotive designs
    • ISO 26262 up to ASIL D compliant power management
    • Tailored for safety critical automotive platforms

The new TS suffix versions extend the robustness and longevity of these proven families and are the recommended choice for all new designs.

The PF81/PF82 family, now with TS additions, is optimized to power a wide range of high-performance SoCs, including:

  • i.MX 8 and i.MX 8X application processors
  • S32V vision and sensor fusion platforms
  • Layerscape LS1043A and other demanding multicore processors

Key features

Key benefits of these TS suffix additions:

  • Smaller module design compared to discrete implementation
  • Accelerate customer design and reduce development cost by BSP and reference design with NXP MPU
  • Reduced complexity for functional safety implementation.
  • This is part of the new generation of 5 V PMIC solutions, offering these key advantages:
    • Enhanced supply robustness
    • Extended longevity of at least 15 years
    • Improved scalability for future, higher performance platforms
    • NXP’s commitment to manufacturing efficiency and supply resiliency, ensuring you receive products faster and with greater reliability.

Feature highlights:

  • Part nomenclature and ordering information:
    • New part numbers are created where the suffix TS indicates the new additional part. Please see additional details on the part numbering strategy/nomenclature provided in table below and 6-pack material.
  • Recommendation for new designs:
    • Part numbers with the TS suffix (MC3xPF8x00xxTS) are recommended for new designs.
  • PF81-PF82 webpage update:
    • Same web page Product Page , parametric data of the new TS parts is currently visible and marketed enabled. Comparison tables with OTP configurations are listed by Automotive, Consumer and Industrial categories.
  • Two data sheets created for the PF81/PF82:
    • Public data sheets specify the “TS” designation and are fully public. One for consumer & industrial and another for automotive.
  • Hardware and software enablement:
    • Evaluation kits/two new boards are offered for the new TS parts.
  • GUI: A new GUI is set for this launch.
  • Production marking change:
    • Each chip will have a QR trace code next to the NXP Logo above the family number, always enabling traceability.
  • Package: (TS) 56-pin 8 × 8 x 0.9 mm HVQFN

Features with no impact:

  • Labeling:
    • No change to label, nor box/reel label.
  • Disposition of products
    • Not applicable now as new products / new part numbers are created.
  • NXP programs:
    • BYLink System and SafeAssure® will continue to be valid for new parts.
  • Longevity program:
    • 15 years for all automotive TS part numbers and 10 years for all consumer & industrial TS part numbers as of February 2026.

Value proposition:

  • High power integration & high efficiency up to 10 A core supply and >10 A total output power
  • Minimized EMC with spread spectrum, frequency tuning & synchronization, and multi-phase operation
  • PF81xx – Basic quality managed safety
  • PF82xx – Fully ASIL B/D safety compliant
  • Package: (TS) 56-pin 8 × 8 x 0.9 mm HVQFN
