We are committed to minimizing the environmental impact of our operations and promoting positive environmental practices within our value chain.
Responsible management of our environmental footprint is fundamental to the long-term sustainability of our business. We have the responsibility to optimize our own procedures in order to reduce the environmental impact but, as a provider, we also support our suppliers and customers to incorporate more environmental practices in their processes and operations.
In 2021, we established our CY25 environmental goals, a set of targets for reducing our environmental footprint in the areas where we have an impact. Overall, we are proud of our progress towards our CY25, especially given our continued growth. An expanding business means additional environmental resources we must account for, and we embrace the challenge.
Data collection and reporting play a key role on the improvement of our sustainability performance. Understanding our operations’ environmental footprint and being able to track goals, allow us to invest time and resources in an efficient way. Therefore, we continuously improve our data collection processes and reporting capabilities as it shows below for FY24.
Our strategy
- Enhance data collection and analysis capabilities related to our energy use and its emissions.
- Improve energy efficiency of offices and facilities and switch to renewable sources.
- Facilitate the transition from traditional combustion engines to hybrid or electric vehicles through on-site charging stations and updating corporate car policies.
- Extend environmental, health & safety management certifications to more locations.
- Raise awareness of our employees through training, information, and communication.
Progress on ISO 14001
Our approach to implementing our environmental management system is based on facility type. We commit to implementing and maintaining ISO 14001-certified environmental management systems at our operational facilities (e.g., warehouses, distribution centers; and manufacturing, programming, and integration sites).
In FY24, our environmental management efforts focused on strengthening the fundamentals, starting with our approach to environmental management. Currently, 65% of our operational sites had achieved ISO 14001 certification, covering 87% of our operational sites’ employees. During FY24, we also continued to develop the Avnet Environmental Standard and target implementation in 2025. We have identified additional operational sites where ISO14001 certification is appropriate and will continue to report on our certification progress and implementation of the Avnet standard in future sustainability reporting.
