As 800V xEV architectures continue to expand across the industry, auxiliary motor systems ranging from pumps and compressors to cooling and suspension drives, must deliver higher efficiency, reduced losses, and uncompromised reliability. These motor loads, typically operating in the 5 kW to 15 kW range, increasingly rely on advanced inverter stages to optimize performance, minimize thermal stress, and meet demanding automotive lifetime requirements. General Architecture of a Motor Control Circuit to adjust the Speed of the Motor in a power efficient way
The ASPM26 Smart Power Module is automotive-qualified for 800V EV battery architecture and engineered to simplify hardware design challenges. High frequency content generated by the switching inverter becomes a motor limiting factor. The motor winding is used as a low pass filter to mitigate, with the winding wires being also isolated with a varnish. High dV/dt cannot be handled by the varnish as it wears out and isolation fails. ASPM26 introduces a solution to limit dV/dt by increasing the gate resistor. Moreover, the module integrates 1200V FS7 IGBTs, gate drivers and HV isolation into a compact package, further reducing its sensibility to noise.
By combining the inverter power stage with integrated drivers, ASPM26 also reduces PCB complexity, shrinks system footprint, and accelerates hardware development. Designed for applications such as 800V E-Compressors, oil/water pumps, high-power cooling fans, e-Super Charger, hydraulic actuators and active suspension systems, the module enables engineers to build auxiliary motor systems that are compact, easy to implement with cost-effectiveness, and exceptionally reliable with short circuit rating. ASPM26 sets a new benchmark for auxiliary motor control, empowering the next generation of xEV architectures.
