Maximizing Power Density of DC Fast Charging Systems with an LLC Power Supply (Di Han, George Chen, MPS)

As the automotive industry has gone through an electric vehicle revolution, power electronics have become paramount in the design of on-board chargers, traction inverters, and even DC fast charging stations.

MPS has created an innovative resonant power supply solutions for biasing SiC power devices which have been critical in increasing power density, efficiency, and range of electric vehicles.

These solutions can switch at up to 5Mhz to greatly reduce total solution size as well as component count. MPS also has many isolated gate drivers and signal isolators solutions for AC grid to DC battery conversion.

Discrete Silicon MOSFETs in EV Charging Stations up to 22kW (Farhan Beg, STMicroelectronics)

EV Charging Stations continue to be the fastest growing segment in the Energy sector. The EV Charging infrastructure will need an extensive deployment of different power levels to enable an organic deployment of E-Mobility over the next years. This requirement for different power levels for charging stations opens new avenues for the use of Silicon MOSFETs in low power chargers up to 22kW to complement the wide band gap technologies which are now standard for high power AC/DC chargers above 22kW.

The evolution of SuperJunction MOSFETs enables very high performance in power converters and the extensive production capabilities of Silicon MOSFETs allows benefits with regards to capacity constraints in wide band gap technologies. In this session, STs experts will dive deep into the various technical possibilities of EV Charging with a concrete focus on EV Chargers upto 22kW and show how SuperJunction MOSFETs from ST can help facilitate the development and deployment of EV Chargers.

How Winning Combinations help on innovative Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging applications (Markus Murauer, Renesas)

As e-Mobility increasingly becomes part of daily life, there is a growing need for more efficient charging solutions. High power off-board chargers are the functional blocks for supporting battery pack solutions.

Renesas Winning Combinations on wall box solution target connected consumer and business EV chargers. Its modular approach enables a variety of connectivity solutions ranging from Wi-Fi, over LTE to PLC, with the option to add additional interfaces through its MODBUS and Ethernet support and Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE), as well as NFC reader for customized billing and access control. Power consumption can easily be monitored in any standard AC power environment through a modular metrology solution.
