TrEOS Automotive ESD protection

ESD protection for Automotive Infotainment USB 3.2, HDMI & LVDS

Nexperia‘s TrEOS Protection offers the ideal combination of low capacitance, low clamping voltage and high ESD robustness for your design. Helping safeguard 10 Gbps data lines systems in automotive applications against ESD and surge events while being AEC-Q101 qualified. The AEC-Q101-qualified automotive TrEOS ESD protection devices parts combine extremely low capacitance ensuring high signal integrity, extremely low clamping, and high robustness for modern automotive interfaces. Specific automotive applications include infotainment, multimedia and ADAS systems featuring USB2.0, HDMI, LVDS, SerDes and SD-card interfaces. With TrEOS technology, capacitance is kept down to 0.2 pF, clamping voltage is just 1.5 V and devices can withstand surge and ESD pulses up to 7 A 8/20 μs.

TrEOS High-Speed ESD Protection for USB4

Uncompromising ESD protection for high- speed data line as USB4TM

Available are 3 different extremely low capacitance bidirectional ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD) protection diodes, as part of the TrEOS protection family. Those devices are housed in a DSN0603-2 (SOD962-2) leadless, ultra-small Surface-Mounted Device (SMD) package designed to protect one signal line from the damage caused by ESD and other transients.

TrEOS based protection offers industry-leading insertion and return loss to help meet tight system budgets

Nexperia announced two Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protection devices optimized for use with retimers and redrivers on high-speed data lines. PESD2V8Y1BSF is designed to protect USB4 (Thunderbolt) interfaces while PESD4V0Y1BCSF is intended for use with both USB4 as well as HDMI 2.1. These products use Nexperia’s proven TrEOS technology, which combines low clamping with low capacitance and high robustness.

  • Backwards compatible to USB 3.2
  • Extremely low diode capacitance: Cd = 0.16 pF at 1 MHz

  • Extremely low insertion loss: -0.29 dB at 10 GHz

Nexperia`s new TrEOS protection devices provide the most compact method to suppress ESD in USB3.2, HDMI2.1 and other high-speed data lines. They combine two TrEOS protection diodes in one miniature DFN0603-3 package – effectively delivering two diodes in the footprint of one. Providing best-in-class ESD protection and system robustness by combining high RF performance with very low clamping and very high surge capability.

ESD protection for automotive CAN-FD (CAN Flexible Data Rate)

CAN-FD ESD protection solutions for Automotive applications

As data payload in vehicles increases, high-speed data transmission becomes essential and new protocols find their way into in-vehicle networks. The CAN protocol is famous but limited to 1Mbit/s whereas CAN-FD (Flexible Data) covers speeds up to 5 Mbit/s. 2 Mbit/s is the typical implementation limit suitable for many applications that do not require higher data rates.
