Microchip ATF697FF – reconfigurable processor
The ATF697FF is a multichip module integrating the Microchip® AT697F SPARC V8 rad-hard processor, the Microchip ATF280F SRAM-based FPGA and an internal PCI link. The ATF697FF delivers best-in-class performance, running at up to 100MHz, as well as low power, down to 0.7W for space applications today. By executing powerful instructions in a single clock cycle, the processor unit achieves throughputs around 1 MIPS per MHz, allowing you to optimize power consumption versus processing speed.
The two dies have been especially designed for space applications by implementing hardened cells, on-chip concurrent transient and permanent error detection and correction, and permanent self-integrity check mechanism. The ATF697FF is designed to be used as a building block in computers for on-board embedded real-time applications. It brings up-to-date functionality and performance for space applications. The module only requires memory and application-specific peripherals to be added to form a complete on-board computer. Both the processor unit and the reconfigurable unit are manufactured using the Microchip 0.18μm rad-hard AT58KRHA CMOS technology.
