The PWD5T60 is a is a three-phase high-density power driver integrating gate driver and six N-channel power MOSFETs. The PWD5T60 is the optimal solution for motor drive applications such as fans, pumps and small appliances.

The integrated power MOSFETs have RDS(on) of 1.38 Ω and 500 V blocking voltage. The high integration of the device allows to efficiently drive loads with reduced footprint, making PWD5T60 the optimal solution for space constrained applications.

The device has dedicated input pins for each output and a shutdown pin. The logic inputs are CMOS/TTL compatible down to 3.3 V for easy interfacing with control devices. Matched delays between low-side and high-side sections guarantee no cycle distortion and allow high-frequency operation.

Robustness is a distinctive factor of PWD5T60. Prevention from cross conduction is ensured by interlocking and deadtime functions and a comparator featuring advanced smart ShutDown function ensures fast and effective protection against overload and overcurrent.

The dedicated UVLO protections on both low-side and high-side prevent the power switches from operating in low efficiency or dangerous conditions, enabling optimal and fail-safe operation.

The zero-drop integrated bootstrap diodes as well as all of the embedded features enable the design of compact and simple PCB layout, and reduce the overall bill of material and application cost. The device is available in a compact VFQFPN 12x12x0.95 mm.

EVLPWD5T60 - Evaluation board for the PWD5T60 compact high-voltage 3-phase power stage with integrated gate driver

The EVLPWD5T60 evaluation board is a 3-phase power board that allows to evaluate all of the PWD5T60 features.

The board is designed to support a three-shunt or a single-shunt current sensing topology.

A strip connector allows easy interfacing with an MCU control board. The 34-pin ST morpho allows to connect the EVLPWD5T60 board to an STM32 Nucleo board through the X-NUCLEO-IHM09M1 motor control connector expansion board.

EVLPWD-FAN-PUMP - PWD5T60 circular reference design for 100 W inverter optimized for fan and pump applications

The EVLPWD-FAN-PUMP board is a 3-phase complete inverter based on the STM32G071RBT6 Cortex®-M0+ microcontroller and PWD5T60 3-phase motor driver.

The evaluation board has been designed, in terms of characteristics and form factor, to address some of the main product applications of the PWD5T60, such as fans and pumps.

The board has a configurable single or three-shunt sensing topology, and both the field-oriented control (FOC) and 6-step control can be implemented. This allows permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) and brushless DC (BLDC) motors to be driven.

A current comparator allows the cycle-by-cycle current limiter feature to implement a current mode control.

The presence of on-board bus voltage sensing can be exploited for overvoltage or undervoltage protection. The driver, in addition, has an undervoltage lockout mechanism to protect against VCC supply voltage drop.

The driver built-in overcurrent circuitry allows almost immediate hardware protection, without the intervention of the microcontroller.

The possibility to use a temperature sensor completes the set of protection features.

The demonstration board is compatible with a wide range of input voltages and includes a power supply stage with the VIPER011LS in buck configuration to generate the +12 V and +3.3 V supply voltages required by the application. The input stage of the board is equipped with a complete AC mains line filter.

Programming and debugging of firmware can be performed with standard STM32 tools through an external STLINK debugger (such as STLINK/V3).
