STMicroelectronics L6981
L6981 - 38 V, 1.5 A synchronous step-down converter with 20 µA quiescent current
The L6981 is an easy to use synchronous monolithic step-down regulator capable of delivering up to 1.5 A DC to the load. The wide input voltage range makes the device suitable for a broad range of applications. The L6981 is based on a peak current mode architecture and is packaged in an SO8 with internal compensation, thus minimizing design complexity and size.
The L6981 is available both in low consumption mode (LCM) and low noise mode (LNM) versions. LCM maximizes the efficiency at light-load with controlled output voltage ripple so the device is suitable for battery-powered applications.
LNM makes the switching frequency constant and minimizes the output voltage ripple for light-load operations, meeting the specification for low noise sensitive applications.
The EN pin provides output enable/disable functionality. The typical shutdown current is 2 µA when disabled. As soon as the EN pin is pulled up the device is enabled and the internal 1.3 ms soft-start takes place. Pulse-by-pulse current sensing on both power elements implements an effective constant current protection and thermal shutdown prevents thermal run-away.

STEVAL-L6981CDR & STEVAL-L6981NDR- 38 V, 1.5 A synchronous step-down switching regulator evaluation board based on the L6981CDR/L6981NDR
The STEVAL-L6981CDR and STEVAL-L6981NDR are based on the L6981CDR/L6981NDR synchronous monolithic step-down regulator delivering up to 1.5 A DC.
Their wide input voltage range make the devices suitable for a broad range of applications.
The devices implement peak current mode architecture in an SO 8L package with internal compensation to minimize design complexity and size.
The L6981 is available in low consumption mode (LCM) and low noise mode (LNM) versions.
LCM maximizes efficiency at light load with controlled output voltage ripple, making the device extremely suitable for battery-powered applications.
LNM makes the switching frequency constant and minimizes the output voltage ripple overload current range, meeting the specification for noise sensitive applications.
The EN pin manages the enable/disable function. The typical shutdown current is 2 μA when disabled. When the EN pin is pulled up, the device is enabled and the internal 1.3 ms soft-start takes place.
Pulse-by-pulse current sensing on both power elements implements effective constant current protection while thermal shutdown prevents thermal run-away.

STEVAL-QUADV01 - Power management evaluation board based on stepdown regulators and LDO
The STEVAL-QUADV01 evaluation board is based on the L6981 (capable of delivering up to 1.5 A DC), the L7983 (capable of delivering up to 300 mA DC), the ST1PS03 (capable of delivering up to 400 mA DC) synchronous monolithic step-down regulators, and the ST730 (capable of delivering up to 300 mA DC) LDO regulator.
The combination of input voltage and output current ranges, and other embedded features makes the evaluation tool suitable for a broad range of applications. eDSim SIMetrix simulation tool is ready supporting all the on-board DC-DC converters as well.
