Microchip MIC2133

MIC2133 - 75V Dual-Phase, Advanced COT PWM Controller

Top side of the Microchip's MIC2133 in VQFN-32 package

Microchip's MIC2133 is a constant, on-time, dual-phase synchronous buck controller that features an adaptive on-time control architecture with HyperLight Load® mode and phase shedding features. The MIC2133 operates over an input supply range from 4.5V to 75V and can be used to supply up to 50A of output current. The input voltage can be lowered to 2V if an external V of 5V is provided. The output voltage of the MIC2133 is adjustable down to 0.6V with an ensured accuracy of ±1% over the entire operating temperature. The reference accuracy is also ensured to ±0.5% over a limited temperature range of −40°C to +105°C. The MIC2133 operates with programmable switching frequency from 100 kHz to 1 MHz per phase. It has a remote sense amplifier for accurate output voltage control as well as user-selectable automatic phase shedding for improved efficiency at medium loads. The MIC2133 is available in a 32-pin 5 mm × 5 mm VQFN package with a junction operating temperature range from −40°C to +125°C.

EV66P64A - MIC2133 Evaluation Board

The MIC2133 Evaluation Board (EV66P64A) is fully assembled and tested to evaluate and demonstrate the MIC2133's capabilities. The board is based on a buck topology and can deliver an adjustable output voltage between 1.5V and 5V, with a maximum current of 50A when is supplied with 10V–75V at the input. It should be noted, however, that the board is tuned and optimized for a 5V/15A output. The board’s power supply requires an output capability of at least 1A and a voltage range of 10V to 75V, at a minimum of 100W. A proper resistor or an electronic load device capable to sustain output voltage and current can be used as a load.
