Small size UWB Module with integrated BLE Wireless MCU

The small sized Type 2AB UWB Module is an OpenMCU design with both the Qorvo QM33120W UWB Chipset and the Nordic Semiconductor nRF52840 BLE WirelessMCU.

The 2AB Module integrated power management, main clock and band pass filtering for the UWB IC as well as the main and LPO clocks for the BLE IC.  With two UWB antenna ports there is support for 2-dimensional Angle of Arrival calculation and other ranging techniques are supported.  The Module has Regulatory Certification based on pcb trace reference antennas and chip antennas and utilises the related SDK tools from Qorvo and Nordic Semiconductors.

Available tools

Murata's Evaluation Kit for the Type 2AB Module is part number LBUA5QJ2AB-828EVB and is supported with Murata Test Firmware and Demo Application for Two Way Ranging function.  Testing of UWB function can be done without infrastructure using 2 EVK's, one functions as Tag and other an Anchor, using different supplied Antennas.

Development of Application by customer should be done based on the Nordic Semiconductor SDK for the BLE function and communication to UWB IC over SPI, for the UWB function use the QORVO SDK.
