Overview
Broadcom optocouplers are used in an array of green energy applications ranging from electric vehicle chargers, energy storage solutions and renewable energy inverters. The primary purpose of an optocoupler is to provide both electrical insulation and signal isolation. Optocouplers eliminate the effects of electrical noise caused by crosstalk, power glitches and electrical interference. They also provide high voltage isolation allowing safe interface between high and low voltages in electrical circuits.
Broadcom’s key optocoupler products include gate drivers for driving power switches like IGBTs, SiC and GaN, isolation amplifiers for phase current and bus voltage measurements, and high speed digital optocouplers for data transmission and communication. The ability of our new products to drive at higher output current, sense with better efficiency, and communicate with lower power requirement allow solution designers to tackle the challenges arising from high voltage green energy applications.
