Speakers & Abstracts:

Part I   Drives & Motion Control

Keynote speech: Trends of Robotics

Artificial intelligence, distributed robot and automation systems based on 5G and edge computing, human-robot collaboration, and digital twins.

Jens LambrechtProf. Dr.-Ing. Jens Lambrecht
Head of Chair Industry Grade Networks and Clouds, TU Berlin /
Co-Founder and Managing Director, Gestalt Robotics GmbH

Jens Lambrecht studied mechanical engineering at the TU Dortmund, worked as a student in the field of simulation in industrial robotics, and obtained his doctorate at the Chair of Industrial Automation Technology at Technische Universität (TU) Berlin on human-robot interaction with gestures and augmented reality. After that, he spent six months in Taiwan working in the field of image processing and then became team leader for cloud robotics at the Telekom Innovation Laboratories in Berlin.

In 2016, he founded the company Gestalt Robotics and received a call for a junior professorship at TU Berlin in 2018. Currently, he heads the Chair Industry Grade Networks and Clouds.

Broadcom Drives & Motion Control

Broadcom’s encoder and isolation portfolio enable highly reliable, efficient, and accurate robotic motor drive systems:

  • Robust incremental and absolute encoders for precision motion control
  • Optically isolated IGBT/SiC/GaN/Mosfet drivers to meet the highest safety standards
  • Current and voltage sensors for close loop servo control in a noisy robotic environment

Lisa DietrichLisa Dietrich
Senior Field Application Engineer, Industrial Products
Broadcom Inc.

Lisa Dietrich is a Senior Field Application Engineer and industrial technical lead for Broadcom Inc. and is part of the EMEA field organization. She has held various positions at Broadcom in technical sales, support, and marketing over the past 20 years. Lisa has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Rhode Island.

Part II   Sensors

Trends in Sensors

In general robotic applications, we can see a trend of an increasing share of autonomous mobile robots, expanding use of machine vision, introducing advanced grasping features, and continued growth of collaborative robot applications.

  • New technologies like Time-of-Flight (ToF) ranging for object detection and avoidance, simplified machine vision applications as well as advanced grasping with detecting object just before manipulation
  • Regular human machine interfacing (HMI) and the new human robot interaction/interface (HRI)
  • Enabling of new touchless input methods, practical in applications like medical or service robotics to maintain the hygiene required in the environment

Uroš MaliUroš Mali
Director Smart Sensing & Connectivity
EBV Elektronik GmbH & Co. KG

Uroš Mali is working as a Director of the Segment, Smart Sensing & Connectivity at EBV Elektronik, the biggest semiconductors distributor in EMEA. With more than 10 years in a semiconductor distribution business, he has gained a lot of experience and knowledge about various technologies including micro controllers, sensors, wired and wireless connectivity standards as well as hardware security – all the building blocks of IoT. Traveling through the region, he has a good overview and insights of the current trends as well as product and technology roadmaps. Although working in semiconductor marketing and business development, he tries to keep the engineer alive inside with active participation in many projects.
