Broadcom | Automotive Solutions for Reliable Inverter Design in HEV/EV Systems
Online, On Demand
Live presentation date: July 6, 2022
Overview
The rapid rise of oil prices has pushed the growth of electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) to take center-stage in the automotive industry. The high voltage batteries used in these systems bring about a need for insulation and isolation.
Broadcom offers a complete family of products that can be used to simplify designs, and provide key features required to design reliable inverter systems for the HEV and EV market, going from gate drivers to analog and digital current and voltage sensors ICs, ensuring at the same time reinforced galvanic insulation between the control circuits from the high voltages and the power semiconductor devices.
One of the key enablers for optocouplers to handle automotive grades applications is the use of very high performance LEDs, coupled with packages designed for very reliable performance.
In this presentation we will show some examples of inverters systems and where Broadcom isolated devices are located. On the gate driver side, Broadcom has introduced drivers with high common mode transient immunity, fast short circuit detection and strong driving capability to enable fast switching, high efficiency and high reliability solutions to be used also to drive wide bandgap Power MOSFETs.
Broadcom isolated sensing ICs offer high accuracy, low drift over temperature, high common mode rejection, cost effective and reliable solutions to measure phase currents and DC-link voltages in inverter systems.
