MCU

The RA family of 32-bit microcontrollers delivers the promise of a secure, connected and intelligent IoT.

The RA family incorporate hardware-based security features ranging from AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) acceleration and a True Random Number Generator (TRNG) to fully integrated crypto subsystems isolated with the microcontroller.

"Renesas' popular Secure CryptoEngine (SCE) was further enhanced for the RA family. It provides together with the NIST CAPV (Cryptographic Algorithm Validation Program) certification symmetric and asymmetric encryption and ecryption, harsh functions and advanced key handling, including key generation and MCU-unique key wrapping. An access management circuit shuts down the crypto engine if the correct protocol is not followed, and dedicated RAM ensures that plaintext keys are never exposed to any CPU or peripheral bus. Multiple groups also incorporate Arm’s v8-M TrustZone®.

The whole family is Level 1 PSA Certified® and provides tamper detection and reinforces resistance to side-channel attacks. These features enable developers to improve the security and safety in their high-performing applications for industrial and factory automation.

Transition within the RA Family is easy, thanks to its feature and pin compatibility, and the commonality of its peripheral IP- (Intellectual Property-)blocks across the different series. All key parts, silicon, tools, and software, have been optimized to work together, creating new blocks where necessary, but also reusing proven IP-blocks, where they are already cutting edge."

MPU

The Arm®-based RZ/T series MPUs deliver high-performance and high-speed real-time control with industrial Ethernet communication to build high-performance systems for automation markets. The RZ/T MPUs and RZ/N MPUs are developed based on a similar hardware architecture and share the same software environment to enable scalable product development. EtherCAT®, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP™, and next-generation TSN are a few of the wide range of protocols supported. Equipped with an encoder interface, RZ/T MPUs can support various encoder protocols. Ultra-low IQ Async buck

The RAA211403/5 is a tiny, easy-to-use, ultra-low quiescent current (IQ) buck regulators with wide input voltage range of 7V to 40V, up to 300mA output current with fixed 3.3V or 5V output. The device offers comprehensive protections, including VIN UVLO, VOUT OVP, overcurrent, and over-temperature protections.

FET & Motor drivers

In factory automation, “DC Motor Drivers” are also commonly used in robotic arm control. IO-Link is an IEC standardized, serial, bi-directional point-to-point connection for signal transmission and power supply. IO-Link is connecting the field level to the automation system and is universal, smart and easy to install and use.

Low power SRAM

Renesas is a leading provider of Low Power SRAM which offers the lowest soft error rate (SER) and the smallest standby current in the market.

With memory density ranges from 256Kbit to 64Mbit they are suitable for many factory automation applications like PLC, AC servo and CNC to name a few.

The SRAM can be used with backup battery or super-capacitor, and saves parameters or programs for quick operation on resuming after power on.

Non-volatile memory (NVM) is a key component at the heart of Factory Automation designs.

The Renesas memory products includes industry standard products such as the AT25SF/QF family with 3.0V operating voltage, AT25SL/QL family with 1.8V operating voltage and the AT25FF family of devices with wide VCC operating voltage. The standard products are offered in densities from 512Kbits to 128Mbits.
