Optical Bonding
Optical bonding means removing the air gap between the display layers—specifically between the cover glass, the touchscreen, and the display module—by filling it with a transparent adhesive (OCA film or OCR resin).
Advantages of Optical Bonding
- Improved optical clarity and readability
- Reduced glare and reflection
- Lower backlight power required for the same brightness
- Increased impact resistance (higher IK grade)
- Protection against flying glass splinters
- Enhanced environmental resistance (no humidity or dust intrusion, up to IP6 grade)
- Better structural stability between the frame and the Display–Touch–Cover Glass stack
- Reduced parallax effect during touch interaction
- UV protection when using Anti-UV bonding with a filter
