Solutions for Robotics
Optical Wireless Communications (OWC) component by Broadcom brings data comms in robotic joints into a new level. With data rates from 0.125 Mb/s up to 5.0 Gb/s+ it allows for a simple and undisturbed by EMI bi-directional data transfer. Its centrosymmetric design allows implementation in infinite rotating joints whilst maintaining flawless functionality. AFBR-FS13B25 is used in state-of-the-art slip ring technologies and has been successfully introduced to the robotics and automation applications such as:
- Rotary data feedthroughs on joints for bi-directional communication in robots
- Robot to Robot communication
- Through window communication
- High resolution video streams from cameras on moving robot arms
- Communication in highly EMI polluted areas e.g. welding robots
Description
- AFBR-FS13B25 is an optical transceiver that communicates data over air or transparent medium
- Optical communication is achieved via 850nm wavelength
- VCSEL driver and photodiode amplifier are included in the package
- Allows connector-less/cable-less communication
- Full-duplex bidirectional communication together with a small form factor
- Device keeps full functionality over a 360° rotation around the optical axis
