8-channel LED/VCSEL driver with enhanced safety features
The AS1181 is an 8-channel LED/VCSEL driver tailored for near-to-eye AR/VR applications such as eye tracking, hand and gesture recognition, and depth sensing. It offers precise current control, narrow pulse capability down to 10 μs, and a fully integrated Eye Safety system that continuously monitors LED current, voltage, and temperature — eliminating the need for external protection circuitry and ensuring IEC-compliant safety in a compact WLCSP-28 package.

- 8 programmable current sinks, up to 65 mA per channel
- 8-bit resolution for current setting (250μA LSB @65mA)
- Narrow current pulses down to 10 μs, with programmable slew rate
- Supports up to 2 LEDs per string
- All safety functions integrated - no external MCU or circuitry needed
- Dedicated Eye Safety Feature with fault shut-down.
