Quad CPU and NPU enable HMI applications with high-performance edge computing
The RZ/G3E is a versatile MPU designed for mid-range Human-Machine Interface (HMI) applications, offering robust edge computing capabilities and high-speed 5G connectivity. It features a quad-core Arm® Cortex®-A55 processor at 1.8 GHz, a dedicated Cortex-M33 core, an integrated AI accelerator (NPU: Ethos-U55), and advanced HMI functionality with a graphics engine, video codec, and multi-screen support. The built-in video codec supports H.264 and H.265 encoding and decoding, with H.265 encoding being a first for the RZ/G series. High-speed interfaces like PCIe Gen3 and USB 3.2 Gen2 ensure fast data transfer, making the RZ/G3E ideal for cloud communication and high-speed storage. The Ethos-U55 NPU is also featured in the Renesas RA8P1 MCU, allowing seamless AI model scaling across MCU and MPU platforms using a unified development environment.
