Nisshinbo Micro Devices NP8700

Quad channel PMIC for automotive camera modules

Nisshinbo Micro Devices NP8700 product image

The NP8700 series is a PMIC specifically engineered for camera modules, the NP8700 combines a high-voltage 1.2 A synchronous buck converter for primary conversion, a second 1.0 A synchronous buck converter, a flexible third channel that can be configured either as a 1.0 A synchronous buck converter or as a 0.2 A low-noise LDO, plus a fourth channel with a 0.2 A LDO that may also be used as a high-side switch when required. Anti-phase operation between the primary and secondary/third converters and an optional spread-spectrum frequency modulation mode help suppress conducted and radiated emissions, stabilizing sensor performance and overall camera reliability. A built-in power-good output with externally programmable delay time with a single capacitor allows designers to eliminate an additional reset IC, while a simple resistor-programmed power-on sequence supports orderly startup and controlled shutdown across rails. The device operates at a fixed 2.0 MHz switching frequency with optional external clock synchronization. It also and offers various safety circuits, such as hiccup / fold-back or latched over-current protection, soft-start on all channels, built-in phase compensation, and a UVLO with two selectable threshold options. The NP8700 supports a wide input range, with the primary converter operating from 3.9 V to 20 V and the low-voltage rails from 2.4 V to 5.5 V, addressing typical automotive power domains. The product is qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 1 and is specified for −40 °C to +125 °C ambient operation, meeting the reliability expectations of in-vehicle deployments.
