Nisshinbo Micro Devices NJL5821R
Optical reflection rotary encoder
The NJL5821R is an optical reflective type of rotary encoder containing a high-power infrared LED, four photodiode sensors, and a signal processing IC in a unique package. Rotary encoders are used in devices that require monitoring and/or control of mechanical systems, including industrial controls, robotics, camera lenses, computer input devices such as optomechanical mice and trackballs etcetera. It is used to measure motion, direction, speed, or even acceleration of a rotary shaft or linear moving object accurately. The advantage of an optical sensor is that is makes no physical contact and has no wear or influence on the actual motion.
