64-channel hyperspectral NIR sensor

ams OSRAM AS7421 product image

AS7421 is a 64-channel near infrared (NIR) digital spectrometer for spectral identification and spectral footprint analysis used in consumer devices. The spectral response of the sensor is defined in the wavelengths from approximately 750 nm to 1050 nm and the channels are equally distributed over the mentioned range. Once a spectral measurement is started, all 64 channels are processed automatically by 16 parallel sampling ADCs with four consecutive integration cycles.

Key features

  • 64 channel photodiode matrix
  • Typical integration time for 64 channel is 262ms
  • Power cons. (typ): 2,5mA active, 2μA sleep
  • Module size 6.6 x 6 x 2.2mm (OLGA 10 package)

Additional features

  • 64 channel photodiode matrix:
    • - Spectral range 750-1050nm (61 wavelengths, 5nm separation)
    • - Integrated NIR LEDs to cover range from 750nm to 1050nm
    • - Integrated micro optics to limit AOI of sensor (Micro Lens Array)

  • All-in-one module enables high sensor stability at fast readout speeds
  • High resolution for spectral identification purposes
  • Low-cost sensor solutions compared to usual lab equipment such as spectrometers

Applications

  • Reflective object spectral sensor for material analysis in consumer/industrial applications
  • Fabric or material identification and detection
  • Moisture measurements in different applications, e.g.: control drying process of grain, coffee beans quality monitoring
  • Fruit & foodstuff parameter measurements before and after harvesting
  • Floor type and moisture detection of surfaces for example in robotics markets
