The i.MX 8M Plus is NXP’s first device within the i.MX Family with an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) - a machine learning accelerator running at up to 2.3 TOPS. The i.MX 8MPlus also has dual integrated ISPs (Image Signal Processors) for the advanced vision system.

The i.MX 8M Plus family focuses on machine learning and vision, advanced multimedia, and industrial automation with high reliability. It is built to meet the needs of Smart Home, Building, City, and Industry 4.0 applications.

i.MX 8M Plus EVK Overview

The i.MX 8M Plus evaluation kit is a feature-rich and excellent starting point for customers to create their own system design based on the i.MX 8M Plus applications processor
The i.MX 8M Plus evaluation kit is a two-board solution that consists of a compact compute module and a larger baseboard that brings out the broad connectivity that is needed for product evaluation. The compute module uses fast, power-efficient 6GB of LPDDR4 memory alongside the i.MX 8M Plus applications processor, PMIC, eMMC, and M.2 connected Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module for connectivity out-of-the-box
The EVK enables HDMI via the HDMI port on the baseboard or through an optional MIPI-DSI to HDMI accessory card for simple out-of-the-box bring up

Key Features of the i.MX 8M Plus EVK

The compute module is a compact 2.3” x 2.3” design in 6 layers and consists of the key system components – SoC, PMIC, Memory, Flash, and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth for connectivity. The compute module uses 6GB LPDDR4. An Azurewave module (AW-CM276MA) is used for the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth which also features the NXP 88W8997
The baseboard brings out all the key interfaces – USB, MIPI-DSI, MIPI-CSI, LVDS, HDMI, microSD, Ethernet, along with expansion headers such as M.2, audio, and general-purpose (UART, I2C, I2S, PCM, PWM, etc.)
