Spread Spectrum Oscillators

Spread-Spectrum Crystal Oscillators (SSXO) are oscillators whose output frequency differs in a narrow range around the desired clock rate and produces a wider spectrum of output frequencies with spectral lines as compared to a conventional single tone. Spread-spectrum oscillators are used to reduce spectral EMI emissions in systems from printers to gaming consoles.
